ABOUT XBOOK

Bookkeeping, without making it harder than it needs to be.

Xbook is an Australian bookkeeping practice built for small business owners who want the records handled properly, the problems explained in plain English, and no lecture about how far behind they have let things get.

WHY XBOOK EXISTS

Most bookkeeping problems are time problems.

Almost nobody gets behind on their books because they do not care or cannot understand it. They get behind because the business needs them somewhere else — on the tools, behind the counter, with a client — and the bookkeeping is the thing that quietly moves to the bottom of the list.

By the time someone gets in touch, the file has usually been sitting for months, the last BAS was a scramble, and there is a low-level dread attached to opening the accounting software at all.

That is a normal starting point, not an unusual one. The job is to clear it, then set up a routine so it does not happen again.

HOW WE WORK

Clear scope, plain language, no surprises.

We look at the file before quoting, because a price built on assumptions helps nobody. You get the scope and cost in writing, split between one-off catch-up work and the ongoing monthly work.

Queries get batched into one message rather than trickling through all week. Anything that needs a decision gets raised while it is still cheap to fix, not at year end when nobody remembers what the transaction was.

Approving payments and payroll stays with you. We prepare; you release.

WHAT WE STAND ON

Three things that make the difference.

NO JUDGEMENT

The current state is just the starting point.

Years behind, a chart of accounts nobody has touched, receipts in a shoebox. None of it is a reason to avoid asking, and none of it is new to us.

PLAIN ENGLISH

You should understand your own numbers.

Reports are worth nothing if the owner cannot read them. We explain what is happening, what needs attention and what the practical next step is.

FIX THEN PREVENT

Clearing the backlog is only half the job.

Catch-up work solves today's problem. A routine that actually fits how your business operates is what stops it coming back next quarter.

WHAT WE DO AND DO NOT DO

Being clear about the boundaries.

What Xbook handles

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping and reconciliations in Xero
  • BAS and IAS preparation and lodgement as a registered BAS agent
  • GST coding reviewed rather than assumed
  • Payroll processing, STP reporting and super guarantee tracking
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Catch-up work on files that have fallen behind
  • Xero file clean-up and ongoing maintenance
  • Preparing organised records for your accountant

What sits with others

Tax returns, business structuring and year-end tax advice are your accountant's work, and we are glad to work alongside them rather than around them.

Financial product advice, lending and investment advice are outside what a bookkeeping practice does, and we will say so rather than improvise.

Approving payments and authorising payroll stays with you. We prepare the run and you release it — that separation protects both sides.
